KEEP CALM AND HIRE A REALTOR

So…you are getting ready to sell your home. Let me ask you. Would you cut your own hair? Perform surgery on yourself? Wisely, I am sure you answered “No”. So let me ask you now, “Would you sell your own home”?

Hiring a REALTOR® is essential to selling your home. An experienced and educated agent will help you prepare your home, establish a price, market the home and lastly, negotiate terms of the sale of your home. All for a set commission that the seller and agent agree upon prior to listing the property. A good agent will be someone who communicates with you and can set you at ease with the particulars of selling your home. You will need to feel comfortable asking questions as well as feel comfortable reaching out to the agent. Your agent should also have a marketing plan. At “Move VA Team” we go a step further and prepare a listing presentation to our sellers which outlines our company, marketing tools and goals of the transaction and seller/agent relationship. Lastly, your agent should be familiar with the area and/or neighborhood. It’s hard to sell something if you don’t know what you are selling. And location, location, location is high priority in real estate.

Just like any person you may hire to do a job, it is important to interview your agent prior to hiring them to do the job of selling your property. Here are a few questions that are important to have answers to prior to signing that listing agreement.

Are you a member of the National Association of REALTORS®? (We as REATORS® have to abide by a code of ethics and state licensing requirements if we are members) Do you have a preferred vendor list? What is your marketing plan? What are your Broker Fees or commission rate? How often will you be in touch? Will you give me feedback on what buyer’s think of the property? What recommendations do you have for listing my home in the way of repairs or staging?
